At 50, I’m happier with my body than ever says Davina

STRIPPING down to a red bikini at the age of 50, it seems that Davina McCall’s somewhat strict life choices have paid off.

The TV presenter doesn’t eat sugary food or drink alcohol, and her exercise regime includes weight lifting, boxing and running. But it’s all worth it for the mother of three – who says she is more body-confident than ever.

‘When I was 30 and looked forward to 50, I was like, “Life’s going to be over, 50 is going to be terrible, I’m going to be in Scholl shoes. I’m never going to wear a bikini ever again”,’ she said.

But she told Red magazine: ‘I’m probably the happiest with my body that I ever have been. I’ve got more saggy skin because of my age, but that doesn’t bother me – not a **** is given.

‘People are always going on about [wearing] bikinis on beaches and I’m like, “Why wouldn’t you? Who cares?” ’

She added: ‘If somebody tells me, “Well, you’re this age, you shouldn’t ldn t be doing this any more”, I’m going to do it even more just to annoy them.’

However, she said she had made some sacrifices along the way – giving up alcohol because it was her ‘gateway to drugs’.

Miss McCall, who recently y split up with her husband d of 17 years, also said going g through tough times was s important because it made e you resilient. The full interview appears in the June issue of Red.
