£80 for ‘winner’ of £1m TV quiz
A CONTESTANT on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? won just £80 despite answering all 15 questions correctly.
Alan Russell was paid the cash for being a stand-in on a trial run for the return of the ITV quiz show. ‘I loved sitting in the iconic chair – even though it was only for a rehearsal it was a fantastic experience,’ said Mr Russell from Hartlepool,.
The show returns on Saturday for its 20th anniversary with Jeremy Clarkson replacing original host Chris Tarrant.
The new episodes will include a number of fresh twists and turns, ITV said.
Judith Keppel was the first to win the top prize in 2000 – a feat matched by only five other players.
