SINGER Sierra Boggess has pulled out of playing Maria in the BBC Proms performance of West Side Story after complaints of cultural appropriation because she is not Puerto rican (Mail).

How about giving the best actress the role?

D. MARSTON, Bromsgrove, Worcs. IT WOULD appear that cultural appropriation only works one way when viewed from the perspective of the politically correct. When are we going to be allowed to be entertained without being lectured. I just want to enjoy a classic musical.
