FIERY TRUMP TAKES AIM AT ‘CRAZY’ RICKY
JUDD TRUMP set up a sizzling Crucible rematch against John Higgins and then blasted Ricky Walden for taking ‘liberties’. The Englishman beat Walden 13-9 to reach the quarterfinals of the Betfred World Championship. Trump, chasing a first title, now faces Higgins in a repeat of the 2011 final won 18-15 by the Scot. Walden missed an ambitious pot while leading 9-8 in frames and Trump (above) said: ‘Ricky took on a crazy ball and it spurred me on, something inside me fired up and the game turned. It felt like a liberty, maybe he thought the way I was playing I wouldn’t clear up. I didn’t think he should be playing that against me.’
Quarter-finals: M Allen v K Wilson, D Junhui v B Hawkins, J Higgins v J Trump, M Williams v A Carter.
