Keep streets clean
THE Mail is to be congratulated for its Great Plastic Pick Up Campaign.
Sadly, it appears the spirit that once motivated housewives to scrub the doorstep and pavement outside their homes and lads to sweep the street after they caused a mess is no more.
I litter-pick along the threequarters of a mile I walk to the newsagent. I hope the pupils of the two schools I pass appreciate a clean street.
There has been a small, but noticeable, reduction in litter being dropped along my route, so I hope the people who take part in the Great Plastic Pick Up will continue their good work. Litter- picking must become accepted mainstream practice rather than the concern of an aware minority.
