400m takeaways

Just Eat has delivered its 400 millionth order in the UK following its £200m takeover of rival Hungryhouse last year.

The takeaway delivery group served up a 49pc increase in revenues to £177.4m during the first three months of the year, boosted by strong demand at its UK business. Its acquisition of rival Hungryhouse added 1.4m orders to the business, with a 24pc rise in purchases of takeaway pizzas, curries and Chinese food to 29.7m.

Shares climbed by more than 4pc, or 31.6p, to 805.4p, yesterday as Just Eat’s results came in way ahead of analyst expectations.
