...AND THE FA SAY ST GEORGE’S PARK IS HOME ANYWAY!

- LAURA LAMBERT

THE FA’s technical director has said he considers St George’s Park to be England’s home, and selling Wembley would make no difference to him. Dan Ashworth told BBC Sport: ‘We are well resourced at St George’s, this is really our home, the training base. ‘We are talking about five games a year (at Wembley). So it doesn’t really affect the project for the England teams, the DNA. ‘If grassroots football was going to improve, then of course I would be a supporter of that. ‘Every single player, every single one of us, started our career in grassroots football.’ The FA has pledged to invest a considerable portion of any potential sale price for Wembley into grassroots football.
