Khan deal in slow lane

FULHAM owner shahid Khan’s wish to complete his proposed Wembley purchase in eight to 12 weeks is a non- starter. the FA board want answers to so many questions — including naming rights and rock-solid guarantees from Khan — that the deal cannot be done in that period.

the Government also have to decide if they want their £160m worth of public money back. this all points to a late autumn verdict, unless the offer is rejected out of hand earlier. culture secretary matt hancock said: ‘this is a decision that should not be rushed. i look forward to hearing more details.’
