Murder’s like a bag of chips ... you can’t stop after one

Chilling message found on the phone of teenager obsessed with human sacrifice videos who stabbed her boyfriend, 17, in bed

A TEENAGER obsessed with male human sacrifice videos stabbed her 17-year-old boyfriend five times while they were in bed.

Zoe Adams, 19, attacked Kieran Bewick with a ten-inch blade after persuading him to have a pillow put over his face and telling him: ‘Trust me.’

Police found a series of gruesome images on her phone. One showed a female apparently covered in blood, with the caption: ‘Murder is like a bag of chips. You can’t stop after just one.’ Yesterday Adams, a mother of one, was jailed for 11 and a half years for what the judge called a ‘cruel and sadistic’ attack.

She was originally charged with attempted murder but later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of wounding with intent.

In a statement her victim said: ‘I am going to be scarred for the rest of my life, both physically and mentally.’ He recalled feeling his lung ‘pop’ when it collapsed after he was stabbed in the chest. He also suffered injuries to his upper arm, leg and hand.

Mr Bewick, an aspiring writer who had a dark fantasy novel published in 2017, told police that Adams had a fascination for ‘gruesome murder videos’.

He also informed officers of a message sent to him by Adams six weeks before the attack in which she said ‘her sexual fantasy was of a male tied up and being used as a human sacrifice’.

Mr Bewick, who has recovered physically and is now 18, agreed to the pillow as a ‘compromise’ during their tryst on the evening of July 29 last year. He refused her request to tie him to the bed with duct tape she had brought to the bedroom, along with a condom.

Bleeding from his wounds, Mr Bewick fled the scene in Wigton, Cumbria, wearing only his boxer shorts and socks. He was treated at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary for potentially life threatening injuries.

Carlisle Crown Court heard that Adams – who was drunk and had been smoking cannabis – had put on vivid facial make-up before the attack to ‘ freak out’ Mr Bewick after learning he was petrified of clowns. Mr Bewick also claimed that Adams, who the court heard had been through a traumatic experience as a child, had previously spoken of plotting to kill a man she had unblocked on Facebook following a fallout.

He told the court that she would spend time in the mornings watching murder videos. More than a dozen images – among almost 18,000 stored on her iPhone – were shown to the court. One carried the words: ‘My next relationship is either going to be my last relationship or my next murder.’ Another message said: ‘I don’t think about males unless said male is strapped up and being used as a human sacrifice – you should be grateful you are not part of it.’

The court heard that both she and Mr Bewick were members of a Facebook group called Murder Files for Curious [People].

Adams was said by the prosecution to have an interest in sexual violence, which she disputed. She also denied Mr Bewick’s claims about the pillow and her plan to tie him up.

She said she had panicked after asking him not to kiss her as the pair cuddled in bed, and had no recollection of the stabbing.

Admitting the attack on Mr Bewick, she said: ‘I did stab him, and it was an over-reaction. I did hurt him. I can’t really believe it, in the way that I considered him to be one of my best friends. I just can’t believe I have hurt him.’

In his statement, Mr Bewick said: ‘I am convinced that she planned it. It wasn’t personal. She was no doubt going to do it to someone. It just happened to be me. Strangely that makes it easier to deal with. I am going to be scarred for the rest of my life both physically and mentally. I find it hard to accept at the moment.’

Judge James Adkin accepted that Adams was ‘vulnerable with emotional problems’ and had shown remorse. But he said she was ‘a woman who appears to have some interest in sadistic sexual activity’.

Adams wept as she was jailed and made subject to an extended fouryear licence period on her release.
