China admits it doesn’t need £47m aid cash
CHINA, which received nearly £47million in UK aid in 2016, does not think it should be getting handouts, International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt admitted yesterday.
It came after Tory MP Pauline Latham told the international development committee the cash going to Beijing was ‘like change down the back of the sofa for China’.
Miss Mordaunt said: ‘Not even China thinks it should be an aid recipient. What we are currently doing with China is not where we should be.’ She added she would discuss the issue with ministers.
