NIGHT OWL

It’s probably nice to be a lark But I’m not an early bird; The melodious dawn chorus I’ve very rarely heard. I’m an owl, I’m a night owl, Crack of dawn is not for me, A beautiful star-filled night sky Is something I’d rather see. I’m not so keen on getting up, My time I like to take, No appointments before 10am — Just give me time to wake! Afternoons and evenings Are my favourite times of day, I can work as busy as a bee Then stay up anyway. I like to watch TV Or read a gripping book, And as for checking out the time I never think to look! I’m an owl, I’m a night owl, Don’t go to bed till late, So if a lark invites me out I’m afraid they’d have to wait! M. Mattinson, Cawood, N. Yorks.
