Former Barclays banker Lord Cromwell has been appointed to dole out a £775m fund intended to boost business banking competitio­n. Cromwell will be executive chairman of Banking Competitio­n Remedies. The cash has been provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland to reduce its dominant market position, as a condition of its bailout by taxpayers.
