NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL CUBAN HEELS!
DAVID HAYE’S Cuban trainer Ismael Salas sported the height of fashion — a pair of platform trainers — as he put his man through his paces in a public workout yesterday.
The veteran trainer is clearly a lot shorter than 6ft 3in Haye, but didn’t let that stop him as he tottered on the footwear at Spitalfields Market.
After the session Haye forecast how he plans to take revenge on Tony Bellew.
Former world heavyweight champion Haye usually picks the round when he will flatten opponents, but varied his theme for Saturday night at the O2.
‘Never before have I predicted an opponent would go beyond six rounds,’ said Haye. ‘But I expect Bellew to make it to the second half. Then I will break him down and take him out with a late stoppage.’
Bellew won the first fight when a crippled Haye’s corner threw in the towel in the 11th round. But Haye added: ‘My body won’t break down again.
‘ you will see the old strong, quick, sharp and fully fit Hayemaker on Saturday night. educated pressure, not wild swings. The very best of me.’ Bellew scoffed in return: ‘This is his last 15 minutes of fame. I will end his career. I can’t wait to punch him in the face.’
Haye sighed and said: ‘It has been a long year having him rub it in that he beat me. That ends this weekend.’
lBellew v Haye live on Saturday on Sky Sports Box Office.
