F1 set for Miami streets
FORMULA ONE bosses plan to stage a grand prix on a street circuit in Miami next year if, as expected, local authorities approve the project a week today. The downtown circuit is reported to include the port area along Biscayne Boulevard and, if approved, the race would run from 2019 to 2028.
Chase Carey, F1’s American chief executive, is keen to stage two or three races in his home country. However, given that the sport’s new owners, Liberty Media, want the calendar to remain at 21 races, somewhere else would need to make way for Miami.
