WHen the Queen visited her new great-grandson Louis, she carried a posy of spring flowers picked from her garden.

It reminded me of the day my Mum met the Queen a few years ago and I was tipped off by a courtier that Her Maj loved freshly picked roses. May I belatedly apologise to our neighbours for the blooms we cut in the dead of night from their garden?
