WHY SHE’S DITCHED ROMPERS
As A stylish girl about town, there was one look Meghan wore time and time again — the shorts suit: tailored shorts with a fitted blazer, which only a woman with supreme body confidence can pull off.
Meghan’s take on the shorts suit was, in fact, what Americans call a ‘romper’, an all-inone outfit which combined the shorts and shirt, with a matching jacket worn on top.
And her go-to label for chic rompers was Veronica Beard, a U. s. label founded by two sisters- in- law, both called Veronica. It’s behind the £130 blue Boca Button- Down Romper (right) as well as the £88 ‘Wynwood’ shorts (above) she wore on a television chat show in 2016.
Almost as soon as news broke of her relationship with Prince Harry, however, the shorts suit suddenly disappeared. It may be that Meghan, now 36, simply felt she was getting too old to show off quite so much leg. Or perhaps, as a royal, the shorts suit is no longer deemed suitable for a Duchess-to-be.
Given Meghan has shown scant regard for tradition when it comes to royal fashion, it would be no surprise if, one day, the old faithful made a comeback.
