Will pods hit road in Lakes?

-

VISITORS to the Lake District could one day be ferried around in driverless pods.

The electronic vehicles are being tested as a way to ease congestion as 18 million tourists a year flock to the national park.

The pods have sensors to avoid collisions and bigger models can take up to 12 passengers.

The vehicles, already in use at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5, have a top speed of 25mph.
