It’s that suit again — even in a heatwave
FATHER-OF-SIX Jacob Rees-Mogg MP and his wife Helena paraded their brood in the Brexiteer’s Somerset constituency yesterday.
On the left is bespectacled Peter, ten, who last week walked in while his father was being interviewed at home by Kay Burley. Next is Alfred, two, followed by Rees-Mogg senior, characteristically confronting the heatwave in one of his double-breasted suits. Less sturdily dressed are Thomas, seven, Mary, nine, and mum Helena — holding Sixtus, born last July — with five-year-old Anselm securing the family’s right flank.
Peter’s tie and dark trousers suggest that he takes after his father more than the rest of his siblings. But perhaps his levitation here indicates that he shares at least some of the spring-heeled athleticism of his mother’s side of the family.
His cousin, Lawrence Clarke, finished fourth in the final of the 110 metre hurdles at the London Olympics. Lawrence and Peter share a maternal grandfather in the late, four-times married Tory MP Somerset de Chair.
