So Charles, are you enjoying the local wine?
IT’S normally his wife who likes to sample a tot of the local vino. But Prince Charles couldn’t resist trying the wares on a visit to a market in Lyon yesterday.
He and the Duchess of Cornwall, who are on a five-day official tour of France and Greece, stopped off at the Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse food market to celebrate the city’s food and viticulture.
At stalls offering cheese, meat and wine, the duchess tried a saucisson de Lyon – a large sausage made in the city – while Charles tasted a local cheese.
They then moved to a wine stall where they both tested a vintage described by the stall owner as the best wine ‘in all of Lyon’.
Charles seemed to agree, uttering an enthusiastic ‘merci’ as he and Camilla clinked their glasses.
