[Your address and contact telephone number] Dear Sir/Madam, Reference: [insert insurer, type of cover and policy number] I believe my premium has been increased unfairly and without good reason. I have been a customer for [XX] years and believe the price I am now being charged is substantially higher than the price new customers would pay. I am currently paying [£XXXX] a year to insure my [XXXXX]. Originally when I took out the policy, I was paying [£XXXX]. Optional paragraph: I have looked online and found a similar policy with the same level of cover for [£XXXX]. [Include any relevant information about changes in circumstances, reasons given for the price increase in your renewal letter and copies of renewal letters from previous years if you have them.] I would like a full refund of the difference between what I have paid and the discount price charged to new customers for the same deal. This should be backdated to the second year of my policy, plus interest at 8 pc a year. Yours sincerely, [YOUR NAME] Send this letter to The Financial Ombudsman Service, Exchange Tower, London, E14 9SR. For more advice on making a complaint call 020 7964 1000.
