£103 holiday money blow

-

HOLIDAYMAKERS buying last-minute currency rates at airports over the Bank Holiday weekend lost as much as £103 on every £500.

Figures from currency firm FairFX revealed that airport currency booths were adding a 13 pc mark-up on euros and U.S. dollars. One of the worst euro rates was €0.90 at Stansted Airport in Essex via Moneycorp — a 20.6 pc difference to the market rate of €1.134.

Moneycorp blames higher airport rates on ground rent, security and staffing costs.
