What a state!

-

I AM in despair at the way the country has been torn apart by Brexit. Ministers and the unelected Lords are undermining and weakening the Government with no regard to the will of the people. The parties are intent on their own agendas.

I would have preferred us to remain as part of a strong United States of Europe, to balance power in this uncertain world.

However, there is too much that is wrong in the eurozone. Lack of control, epic profligacy, too many laws, and policies on immigration that are impractical and ineffectual.

We should have been at the heart of Euro politics, helping control the excesses and implementing change to make it fit for purpose. But we were never a full member of the club; how could we be unless we had embraced the euro as our currency?

The country voted to leave, and Remainers should accept that — unless they can convince us they really can change Europe into a more acceptable proposition from within.

We can’t remain as a minor partner to France and Germany. So Remainers, put up or shut up.

A SOLUTION to the Irish border problem: BISTO!

That’s the British Isles Standard Trading Organisation consisting of England, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as separate states, but with open borders and a shared currency.

They would be free to negotiate their own trade agreements or have a common agreement.
