US inquiry was over years ago

THE US inquiry which uncovered the truth about America’s role in the ‘war on terror’ was carried out four years ago – while Britain’s has yet to appear. The extent to which the CIA kidnapped and tortured terror suspects was laid bare in December 2014 by a Senate committee. It triggered demands for a similar, fullscale inquiry here.

But a planned judge-led inquiry was scrapped in 2012 and Parliament’s intelligence and security committee was given the job. It is expected to report within weeks.
