Memorial lost

A TALE of two market towns in Derbyshire.

Ashbourne War Memorial gates and gardens are being renovated to mark 100 years since the end of the Great War.

In contrast, Wirksworth Memorial garden, a peaceful haven, has been destroyed by the town council, which thought it more important to have market stalls and entertainment than to remember local men who lost their lives in the World Wars.
