Poundland woes
AN AccOUNTING probe into Poundland’s South African owner Steinhoff looks set to unearth further irregularities in its finances.
Steinhoff was plunged into turmoil last year when it revealed it had hired accountants to investigate its accounts.
The scandal forced the resignation of boss Markus Jooste and former billionaire chairman christo Wiese.
Yesterday it admitted the Pwc probe may result in ‘material additional impairments’.
Poundland said it was ‘largely insulated from the issues at Steinhoff because of new funding that came through before christmas’.
