Queen’s top tipple on menu
THE Queen has ordered dozens of crates of her favourite champagne – Pol Roger – for Prince Harry’s wedding reception.
She is hosting a wedding breakfast for Harry, his bride Meghan and 600 guests in St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle immediately after the marriage ceremony at St George’s Chapel.
Pol Roger Brut Reserve, which costs around £80 for a magnum, is described as being ‘ dominated by white flowers, green apple, brioche, stone fruits … and a hint of honey’.
It has long been a favourite of the Queen, who, while not a big drinker, does like the odd glass.
Pol Roger was also the champagne of choice of Queen Victoria and Sir Winston Churchill, although he preferred the family-run marque’s finest vintages.
