PLEASE PRAISE US, SAYS POCH

- By ADAM CRAFTON

TOTTENHAM manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he feels his efforts are never enough to please some people and that his side deserve more praise after sealing Champions League qualification for the third season in a row. Spurs confirmed their place in the top four this week but have been criticised for failing to win a trophy and the side were booed off by sections of the Wembley crowd with the scores goalless against Newcastle at half-time at Wembley. Pochettino (right) said: ‘In the last three years we achieved the massive thing to play Champions League. ‘This season, again, despite playing in Wembley and many things from the beginning, still some say that, “Oh yes, but the team need to win some titles . . . ” I am going to celebrate with my staff, because I think for us it is a massive achievement and of course it is not enough — because we want to win titles.’ Pochettino also criticised the decision to shut the English transfer window early and says Premier League clubs will be at a major disadvantage this summer. He said: ‘It is a massive advantage for the rest of Europe. I don’t believe that it is a good idea to finish the transfer market before Europe does. Every player is going to react in a different way.’
