Lukaku’s Cup half full

- By CHRIS WHEELER

ROMELU LUKAKU is confident he will be fit for the FA Cup final next Saturday despite manager Jose Mourinho’s concerns that his top scorer could miss Manchester United’s clash with Chelsea.

Lukaku has been recovering from an ankle injury in Antwerp since suffering minor ligament damage against Arsenal last month.

The Belgium striker is determined to play at Wembley after missing United’s final three Premier League fixtures of the season.

Lukaku, a £75million signing from Everton last summer, is optimistic he will be ready in time but wants to play even if he is not fully fit. United have struggled for goals in his absence, drawing a blank in their two most recent league games against Brighton and West Ham, in which they won only one point.

Mourinho’s side face Watford in their last league game at Old Trafford tomorrow.

‘We hope he can play in the final,’ said the United manager. ‘He is in Belgium, having his treatment with communication between the doctors in Belgium and our medical department.

‘We are just waiting to see if it’s possible for him to be involved in the final. If not starting, then at least on the bench.’
