I’m the retiring type, says Naomi. Really?

THE barely-there dress was eyecatching enough. But Naomi Campbell courted further attention yesterday – by announcing that she may quit modelling.

The 47-year-old has been a stalwart of the catwalk for more than three decades, strutting her way through countless fashion shows.

Now, however, she says it might be time to make way for younger talent. Speaking at an event at the Cannes film festival, she said: ‘I don’t know if I can walk much longer, it’s been 32 years.

‘But it’s an honour to walk … I’d

love for it to be carried on by the younger generation and for me to sit in the audience and watch.’

Since appearing in Vogue in the late 1980s, Miss Campbell been featured on the front of the fashion magazine 65 times.

Last night she hosted her annual Fashion For Relief catwalk show at Cannes. The theme for this year’s event was ‘Race to Equality’, and the supermodel referred to the forthcoming marriage of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. ‘I think this is another example showing the world about race, I think they’re going to be a couple that’s going to be a symbol, a big symbol all over the world,’ she said.

‘I know that Princess Diana would be so happy that her son is marrying the woman that he wanted to. I think she would have loved her and I think that it’s fantastic.’

Founded in 2005, Fashion For Relief has raised millions with the help of the star-studded bash and donations from some of the world’s most well-regarded fashion houses.
