GHOSTLY voices are caught up in the wind that scours the hills and moors as Nelly (Emma Fielding) begins WUTHERING HEIGHTS (RADIO 4, 10.45AM, 7.45PM), the story of the Earnshaw family and a foundling. Heathcliff, a dark-skinned child, is found on the streets of Liverpool, and is brought by Mr Earnshaw to live with his family at Wuthering Heights. This ten-part adaptation brings out the themes of love and revenge that give Emily Bronte’s novel its passion and mystery.

ANDY abandons his life as a City whizz kid and returns to his Yorkshire roots to live with his uncle, Jeff, in Flamford — the seaside town that sanity forgot. Andy is hoping for a warm welcome and a bit of peace and quiet. Instead, he finds his uncle

is a dodgy character, and the town is in the hands of Brad Pitt and a gang of Hollywood Nazis. THE BREAK (RADIO 4, 11.30AM) is a nicely paced,

well-written sitcom starring Philip Jackson, Alison Steadman and Tom Palmer.

IN THE first programme of her new series THE CERYS MATTHEWS BLUES SHOW (RADIO 2, 8PM), the charmingly bubbly host welcomes her Welsh compatriot Tom Jones (pictured) to the show. Tom talks about singing the blues with Elvis, and picks some favourite tracks.
