Reluctant to see the doctor?

-

TWO-THIRDS of Brits would put off going to the doctor, because they are scared they will receive bad news. And more than half would hold off because they are worried about how a diagnosis could affect their family, according to a study by AbbVie.

Other research shows that the average adult puts up with worrying health symptoms for more than five months.

Three-quarters of British people are currently putting up with a health concern they have ignored, with backache being the most common complaint.

And, as Deaf Awareness Week begins, two in five admit to never having had a hearing test, despite worrying that they could have a problem, reveals Hidden Hearing.

GP and medical broadcaster Dr Hilary Jones says: ‘It’s important to get anything that is causing you concern checked out at the earliest opportunity.’
