Max, 15, up for Brit award

WONDERKID Max Burgin is set to land his first British vest — if he can get time off school. The 15-year-old from Halifax clocked 1min 47.50sec for the 800 metres, an age-group world record and British Under 17 best, in Manchester on Saturday. He could line up in the European Youth Championships, for Under 18s, in Hungary in July, though it clashes with school. If he does run, Burgin will be favourite to claim the title, which was won in 2016 by George Mills, son of former England footballer Danny Mills.
