CIRCUIT’S HOMAGE TO CATALONIA

THIS race may have taken place under the Spanish Grand Prix banner but there were touches to suggest it could be heading towards one representing Catalonia. Before the Grand Prix, the Catalan anthem was played after the Spanish one, and both flags featured on the track in a land where independence remains a hot topic. The region’s parliament declared independence last October, but the move did not receive international recognition.
