Conte’s chumps blasted for Toon surrender

ANTONIO Conte questioned whether he can still motivate his players as Chelsea were described as ‘diabolical’ for their 3-0 surrender at Newcastle.

‘You’re talking about spirit and (Newcastle) were more determined than us,’ Conte said. ‘I wasn’t able to get my determination through to my players. We must change because if we play like this in the FA Cup final, we don’t have a chance.’

Conte (right) is likely to leave the club after Saturday’s final against Manchester United, regardless of the result.

Sportsmail columnist Jamie Redknapp said Chelsea should refund their fans for such an abject display. He said: ‘Chelsea were diabolical, a shambles. I feel sorry for the fans. Chelsea should pay for them to get home or refund them.’

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp added: ‘You can see he looks a beaten man. I’d be amazed if we see him on the touchline at Chelsea next season.’
