PRINCE PHILIP GETS HIS OLD TITLE BACK

PRINCE PHILIP, who became Lieutenant Mountbatten when he assumed British nationality, is Prince Philip again.

Last night it was announced that his full title is ‘His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh’. Princess Elizabeth’s is ‘Her Royal Highness The Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh’.

The marriage register calls the Princess ‘Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, 21, spinster. Princess of Great Britain and Ireland’ and the Duke ‘Philip Mountbatten, 26, bachelor, HRH the Duke of Edinburgh KG’. The register will be on public view in the Abbey today, tomorrow and Monday.
