Get your bank to pay for timeshare swindle

- r.lythe@dailymail.co.uk

TIMESHARE owners are reclaiming thousands of pounds from banks and credit card firms after being mis-s old holiday properties.

Customers are using Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, which gives buyers the right to claim a refund for items bought on a credit card costing between £100 and £30,000 if the goods or services are not as described.

Many owners say they were promised cheap holidays by the firms flogging timeshares. Instead many cannot book a break when they hoped, or are hit with hefty management fees.

The Financial Ombudsman Service, which settles disputes, is ordering banks to refund the cash.
