Wickes jobs axed
WICKeS is axing 100 jobs as part of a costcutting drive.
The DIY group, owned by Travis Perkins, said the cull will affect workers at its headquarters in Watford, hertfordshire, where it employs about 300 people.
A Wickes spokesman said: ‘In order to continue to drive growth for our business, we have been reshaping our support centre to allow us to be leaner and more agile.’
Last month Travis Perkins posted a 4.6pc fall in like- for- like sales at Wickes and bemoaned ‘weakness in the UK DIY market’. Travis also vowed to take more costs out of the business.
