LEWIS Hamilton’s chances of winning the Monaco Grand Prix have been boosted after Formula One rulers banned Ferrari’s controversial mirrors. The Italian team had exploited what Hamilton’s title rival Sebastian Vettel called a ‘hole in the regulations’ by placing rear-view mirrors on the new halo safety device. The FIA decided they offer an unfair aerodynamic advantage. iRish cyclist sam Bennett made a perfectly timed break to win yesterday’s 12th stage of the Giro d’italia in a sprint finish on the imola motor racing circuit. Englishman simon Yates kept the overall lead in heavy rain, staying 47 seconds ahead of defending champion Tom Dumoulin. ‘These were favourable weather conditions for an Englishman. And also an irishman,’ said Yates.
