Pensioner arrested over brutal killing of widow, 85
A PENSIONER was arrested yesterday on suspicion of beating a retired seamstress to death in her own home.
Great-grandmother Rose Coleman, 85, had changed the locks on her bungalow just two days before she was killed. This led family to believe she must have opened the door to her killer and may have known them.
Mrs Coleman was reported dead by her gardener on Tuesday morning. He was seen sitting on a wall with his head in his hands as police arrived at the scene in Romford, East London.
Yesterday police arrested a 65year-old man on suspicion of murder
as officers said they were working with the family to determine if anything had been stolen.
Detectives say the widow was subjected to a ‘cowardly assault’ before being left to die alone. She was among dozens of people in the area who were targeted by cold callers in the past two weeks.
