How cheeky Charlotte stole show from shy George

- By David Churchill

SHE waved, smiled and played to the crowd – threatening even to upstage the bride.

Despite being one of the youngest bridesmaids, Princess Charlotte showed she is by no means the shyest, giving well-wishers at Windsor and the millions watching around the globe a series of cheeky gestures.

As three vintage Rolls-Royces carrying the entourage of six bridesmaids and four page boys approached the steps of St George’s Chapel, the threeyearold princess cheekily stuck her tongue out and waved at the crowd.

After stepping out she continued grinning and waving and further melted hearts by flicking her dress in the air with her leg.

And she wasn’t the only cheeky child the bride-to-be had to contend with. As Meghan waited to walk down the aisle, one of her pageboys, John Mulroney, appeared to ‘ photobomb’ her with an enormous gap-toothed grin.

The mischievous pair were among ten page girls and boys who trailed Meghan as she was walked up the aisle by Prince Charles.

The six girls were dressed in all white Givenchy bridesmaid dresses and had flowers adorning their hair. They giggled as they walked behind the beaming bride along with the four page boys.

Among them were the children of two of Meghan’s closest friends, stylist Jessica Mulroney and Benita Litt, a former entertainment lawyer and entrepreneur. Twins John and Brian Mulroney, seven, and Ivy Mulroney, four, are Jessica’s children, while six-year- old Remi and sevenyear old Rylan are Benita’s – also Meghan’s goddaughters.

Also taking part were Prince Harry’s goddaughters. Zalie Warren, two, was the youngest bridesmaid and one of the twin daughters of Jake Warren, Harry’s Eton schoolmate. Florence van Cutsem, three, is the daughter of Major Nicholas and Alice van Cutsem, and Jasper Dyer, six, is the son of Harry’s ‘second father’ Mark Dyer, a former Welsh Guards officer who was equerry to Prince Charles.

Charlotte’s brother Prince George, four, cut a much more demure figure throughout the proceedings.

He did not put a foot wrong and clung on to his father’s hand while exiting the church, apparently also hiding behind William as the Royal Family waved off the happy couple at the top of St George’s Chapel stairs following the ceremony. A Palace spokesman said of the youngsters’ outfits: ‘The dresses were designed to have the same timeless purity as Ms Markle’s dress.

‘The bridesmaids are wearing white leather Aquazzura shoes; each pair is monogrammed with the bridesmaid’s initials, and the wedding date.

‘The shoes are a gift from Ms Markle to the young ladies as a keepsake of the special day.’

Of the boys they added that the frockcoats were made from blue doeskin and as a special memento, each page has their initials embroidered in gold on their shoulder straps.
