The £80-a-slice wedding cake
THE couple’s lemon and elderflower wedding cake was believed to have cost £80 per slice. Adorned with 150 fresh flowers, the three-part layered centrepiece, pictured, was rumoured to have cost up to £50,000 to make. It was covered in Swiss meringue buttercream and served to 600 guests at the afternoon reception.
Some 200 Amalfi lemons and ten bottles of Sandringham elderflower cordial were used in it. The cake was made by London-based pastry chef Claire Ptak and a team of six bakers.
