Blue-eyed hunk behind the camera
HIS steely blue eyes and chiselled jaw – not to mention skill with a camera – have made him one of the most popular royal wedding photographers of all time.
Alexi Lubomirski, a Polish prince famed for portraits of Hollywood stars such as Angelina Jolie, was chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to take their engagement and wedding pictures.
The 42-year-old father of two, who was born in the UK but is based in New York, is allowed to use the title ‘His Serene Highness’ because he is a descendent of the Polish House of Lubomirski.
He caused a stir after his engagement portraits of Harry and Meghan were released, with one fan remarking online: ‘The photographer is as sexy as hell!’ He is also a romantic. Once a month, he says, he writes a poem for wife Giada and gives her a rose and a pearl.
An apprentice to Mario Testino, Mr Lubomirski was born to a Peruvian-English mother and a Polish-French father.
His delight at learning he was a prince turned to disappointment when his mother told him the family had no palaces – just the title. ‘I said, well what’s the point?’ he told the New York Post.
Mr Lubomirski said of his portraits of the royal couple: ‘This has been a beautiful chapter in my career.’
