Protect our troops

-

OUR armed forces should not be deployed to afghanistan unless they are given ‘letters of comfort’ by the government similar to those given by Blair to IRa terrorists. Without this guarantee, after returning from active service they could face years of persecution and the threat of prosecution and imprisonment. Our troops and their families must have this assurance. PETER LITTLER, Winterton, Lincs. DO We really want more of our young men and women blown to bits in a vain attempt to make afghanistan governable? The afghans need to sort out what kind of country they want. nationbuilding should be done by the people who live in the country. Rev ANDREW McLUSKEY, Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey.
