I’m poison spy’s mum, says woman

-

AN elderly woman claiming to be the mother of Sergei Skripal wept as she appealed to Britain to let her speak to the former spy on the phone.

On Russian state-run television, Yelena Skripal, 89, said she had been barred from talking to him even though she did not present ‘any danger’ and was ‘weeping every day’.

She was shown on her bed wearing a nightdress in her home in the city of Yaroslavl on the show Let Them Talk.

Last week Mr Skripal, 66, left hospital in Salisbury, Wiltshire, two months after being poisoned with a nerve agent.

His daughter Yulia, 33, also survived the attack and was discharged last month. They are in a secret location.

Mrs Skripal said she had not seen her son for 14 years and wanted to ‘clasp him firmly to myself, to my heart’.
