dfS chief executive ian filby is to join family fashion chain Joules as its nonexecuti­ve chairman.

filby, 59, resigned after eight years at the helm of the furniture firm but will become chairman of Sofology, which dfS bought for £25m last year. He will take over the non- executive chairman post at Joules from neil Mccausland, who is leaving after five years.

filby will be replaced by Tim Stacey who is being promoted from chief operating officer.
