There have been medical studies done on natural oils like olive oil and coconut oil. Some do improve hydration but olive oil specifical­ly has been shown to potentiall­y damage the barrier effect of the skin and can make you much more at risk of developing things like childhood eczema.

With plant-derived products, botanicals, people can have allergic responses so I don’t think that natural is necessaril­y always better or safer.

If you’re prone to dry skin and eczema, I would stick with the over-the-counter moisturise­rs designed for people with dry and sensitive skin.
