andrew roberts offered some ribald commentary on the royal Wedding for U.s. TV.

remarking on the couple making their last public appearance in the early evening on their wedding day, roberts said: ‘You didn’t get privacy like this in iceland in the Middle ages where five people from the court, including one lawyer, had to watch the marriage being consummated.

‘Can you imagine how off-putting that would be?’

Cue nervous laughter from the NBC presenter, who responded: ‘We need a minute here.’
