Four-pint limit at Goodwood
GOODWOOD will impose a ‘four-pint rule’ on spectators after a mass brawl at the race track left six men in hospital.
Race organisers stopped punters buying large quantities of alcohol in one go and employed ‘spotters’ as the West Sussex course reopened yesterday for the first time since the fight on May 5.
Footage of a man lying on the floor being viciously kicked in the head was widely shared online.
A week later a mass brawl also erupted at Ascot, when two groups of men fought within the grandstand.
Alex Eade, Goodwood’s general manager, said: ‘Our bar managers and a team of spotters closely monitor consumption and will refuse to sell to anyone they deem to have consumed too much.’
