THE STORY OF CLIFF RICHARD, 9PM, CH5

-

WITH more than 250 million record sales under his belt, Cliff Richard remains one of the world’s most successful singers. Born Harry Rodger Webb in 1940, he changed his name at 16 to sound a bit cooler — and became one of our hottest stars, notching up more number one hits than any other British solo artist. In the year the ‘Peter Pan of pop’ (pictured) celebrates six decades in the business, this affectionate profile sings Cliff’s praises with the help of friends, colleagues, fans and some wonderfully nostalgic archive footage. An Audience with Cliff Richard, from 1999, follows at 10.30pm.
