FLYING BATTAASH IS RARING TO GO...

- MARCUS TOWNEND

TRAINER Charlie Hills says flying sprinter Battaash is ready to go, but admits he faces a tough task on his seasonal debut when he takes on 10 rivals in tomorrow’s Temple Stakes at Haydock.

The son of Dark Angel, who beat Marsha to win the Prix De l’Abbaye at Chantilly last season, must give 5lb to in-form Chester winner Kachy and 8lb to Palace House Stakes winner Mabs Cross.

Hills, who will aim yesterday’s Goodwood winner Mutawaffer at the Norfolk Stakes at next month’s Royal Ascot, said: ‘His weight is pretty good.

‘He is 11 kilos heavier than when he ran in the Abbaye, but he is a bigger horse now — he is an inch and a half bigger and stronger.’
